ABOUT INDIGENOUS VISION FOR THE NORTH END

Indigenous Vision for the North End is a coalition of community-based organizations. We will create safe spaces for residents of the North End to meet, connect and grow, support leadership development and capacity building while promoting the engagement and participation of indigenous community members.

Indigenous Vision for the North End (IVNE) operates as a program of Ma Mawi Wi Chi Itata in collaboration with a Steering Committee of leadership from 11 North End non profit organizations.

The priorities of Indigenous Vision for the North End are:

  1. Increase the direct involvement of North End Indigenous residents in community development projects

  2. Empower community members to take ownership of community actions today and in the future

  3. Develop a realistic set of actions to show the increasing progress in stimulating community  leadership, participation and accountability

  4. Honour the United Nations Declaration on Indigenous Peoples and the Principles and the Truth and Reconciliation Commission Calls To Action

  5. Honour, nurture and celebrate local First Nations, Metis & Inuit traditional knowledge, experience and practices

  6. Work with all residents in a spirit of reconciliation and inclusion
